In response to this problem regarding medicines in the country, the Administrative Court of Cundinamarca ordered the Ministry of Health and the National Institute for Medicines and Food Surveillance (Invima) to generate an urgent action plan to address the shortage.
The magistrate gave the Minsalud and Invima a period of 10 days to generate the plan that ensures the availability of the medicines prioritized by the Ministry and the other active ingredients that have an insufficient supply compared to the needs of the population.
They must also prioritize the processing and resolution of the 27,904 applications for registration of medicines that are submitted to Invima and that are currently pending, in order to guarantee availability in institutional and commercial channels.
