Dr. Hossam Mowafy, Professor of Critical Conditions at Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine, explained that there are vital organs that are more damaged than others when suffering from diabetes.

Mowafi said during his program, “My Lord, Increase My Knowledge,” broadcast on Sada El Balad channel, that diabetes complications have nothing to do with blood sugar levels, with the exception of coma.

He added that diabetes poses a great danger to the circulatory system, noting that it may lead to narrowing or blockage of blood vessels throughout the body.

The professor of critical care medicine pointed out the seriousness of diseases that threaten diabetic patients due to narrowing or blockage of blood vessels, such as heart attack, kidney failure, and hemiplegia.

He stressed that the nervous system is also damaged in diabetics, adding that it causes inflammation of the peripheral nerves, which leads to a feeling of numbness in the feet.
