The Boston Marathon It is one of the most representative American races. It is an annual celebration that takes place every third Monday in April, on a local holiday called Patriots’ Day. Nearly 30,000 people run from Hopkinton to Copley Square. As a result, several Massachusetts highways will be closed to traffic along the route.
The best athletes come together for the 127th edition of this sporting event in a 26.2-mile (42-kilometer) race. The streets closed are:
The roads surrounding the start line and City Hall (Main St., Ash St., Park St, and Hayden Rowe) were closed from 6:30 a.m.

Route 135 was closed, but the roads will reopen at approximately 2:00 p.m.
Route 135, Waverly Street, is closed as of 8:15 a.m. and will remain so until 2:00 p.m.
Different roads in Wellesley were closed at 8:30 a.m. and will remain so until 3:30 p.m.
The marathon course splits Wellesley in half. The race enters from Central Street (Rt. 135) on the Natick line, near Wellesley College. The route then continues east and then continues on Washington Street (Rt. 16) east through Wellesley Hills and into Lower Falls. The race leaves Wellesley on Washington Street on the Newton line.
In accordance with Boston 25 News, the only way to cross by car is by using Route 9 (Worcester Street) under Route 16 (Washington Street).
Central Street will be closed from the Natick line to Grove Street.
Washington Street will be closed from Grove Street to the Newton line.
