Havrix vaccine for infants and children 720 U/0.5 mlsuspension for injection in pre-filled syringe, is an adsorbed inactivated vaccine against the hepatitis A virus (strain HM175).

In June 2023the ANSM had reported supply tensions concerning this vaccine, which continued until the end of the year. January 9, 2024the agency reported its normal availability.

This vaccine is indicated for active immunization against infection caused by the hepatitis A virus. in children from the age of 1 yearin case of risk of exposure to this virus:

– children staying in collective structures for disabled children and young people;

– children suffering from cystic fibrosis or chronic hepatobiliary pathology likely to develop into chronic liver disease (in particular due to hepatitis B and hepatitis C viruses);

– children of families where at least one member comes from a country of high endemicity and likely to stay there;

– children in the family circle of a patient with hepatitis A.

Plan : 2 doses, at M0 and M6 from 1 year old (cf. vaccination schedule 2023).

This vaccine does not protect against infection caused by hepatitis B, C, E viruses or other known liver pathogens.
