Through social networks, several citizens residing abroad denounced irregularities on election day, such as political at the polls, shortcomings in logistics, failure or refusal to give ballots from different parties at the consulate polling stations.
One of the first to alert regarding the situation was the candidate for New Liberalism, Juan Manuel Galán. Through his Twitter account, the politician expressed that they sent him “reports from various parts of the world: London, Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile, where voting is being impossible due to clearly deficient logistics.”
Likewise, the candidate of the Historical Pact, Isabel Cristina Zuleta, asked the Registrar to “guarantee that there are enough ballots for voters in all the polling stations”, since people reported to her that the ballot for her query at the Consulate of New York.
In this regard, the National Registry made a call to the Foreign Ministry.
“The Foreign Ministry is respectfully requested to urge ambassadors and consuls to follow up on the exercise of jurors so that they unrestrictedly fulfill their legal functions, instructed in training and contained in the record of voting jurors abroad,” he said. through a statement from the control entity.
And pointed out that “in the events in which the ambassadors and consuls detect any complaint or irregularity on the part of the juries, they must immediately inform the Office of the Attorney General of the Nationentity that governs and disciplines Colombian citizens in the exercise of public functions and/or the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, if said activity constitutes a crime under Colombian criminal law, so that they are investigated and prosecuted.”
