Inflation continues to run rampant on the island and complaints abound regarding the prices of state ice cream in Cuban Coppelias. And criticism comes from all sides, from ordinary citizens to government reporters.
The journalists themselves from the official media complained this week regarding the state’s high prices for ice cream, something that they also describe as “distortion” (the fashionable word these days) and that must be reviewed. This is what happened from Santa Clara, Villa Clara, to the center of Cuba, where its Coppelia looks empty, although it has a wide offering.
The journalist from the local TV, Telecubanacán, Belkis Vidal, pointed out on networks that “the images speak for themselves”, because in a cluster of images the entity is seen completely empty, although it had ice cream for sale. But the prices seem prohibitive.
“It is the panorama of the emblematic Coppelia of Santa Clara following the increase in prices of its products. When passing by, a small group of young people from the polytechnic education came in very happy with ideas of cooling off with a tasty ice cream. They automatically left when they were surprised by the outrageous prices. The phrase of one of them was: damn, how expensive, it is true that when someone invites you to Coppelia it is because they are a millionaire, I quote verbatim,” wrote the official reporter.
Coppelia in Cuba: complaints regarding the price of ice cream
The reporter in question continued with her complaints regarding the price of ice cream at Coppelia in Santa Clara, which should be the same for the rest of these state entities throughout the country.
“These young people who were left wanting to enjoy themselves, like a while ago following a while in this venue, are still right. The issue of dairy prices is undoubtedly one of the many distortions in the Cuban economy, which must necessarily be reviewed,” he concluded.
