A number of iPhone users complained following Apple rolled out the new iOS 15.6 update. The update includes several important bug fixes, however, it affects battery life negatively, so many frustrated iPhone users took to Twitter to discuss the issue this week.
According to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”, the bugs targeted by the update included fixing an annoying issue where the Settings app continued to display that the device’s storage space is full, even when it is available.
And while many iPhone users have already eagerly downloaded the update, many reported that iOS 15.6 is affecting battery life, with one user tweeting: “Does anyone else have good battery life on iOS 15.6?”
Another added, “I did a fresh install of iOS 15.6 on my 13 Pro a couple of days ago, and so far this is the battery life I’m getting,” citing its low battery life.
The researchers at iAppleBytes also ran their own battery life tests on iOS 15.6, and found that the software degraded battery life in the vast majority of iPhone versions, and existing battery issues will be addressed.
ZDNet researcher Adrian Kingsley-Hughes explained that installing a new operating system on an iPhone causes a lot of things to run in the background, from indexing to resetting the battery, and this can last for hours or even days.
Not only does this consume power, but recalibrating the battery can give the impression that the battery is draining more quickly when in reality it is not.
And while battery issues may bring you down, Apple is urging iPhone users to download iOS 15.6 as it includes patches for 39 vulnerabilities that act like open windows so that hackers can sneak into your smartphone.
