Reinhard Fendrich
With his current album “Starkregen” the Austrian singer-songwriter writes chart history once more as the solo artist with the most number one albums in Austria: “Starkregen” is his 14th number one studio album in almost 40 years of exceptional career. For Fendrich, “heavy rain” also represents a personal milestone for another reason: “
This is the first studio album I released through my own label with my own team. Never before have I experienced every single step up to publication so intensively. I am all the more pleased that this path has proven to be the right one.”
In the 80s and 90s he was at the top of the hit parades throughout Europe with “Macho, Macho”, wrote immortal hits like “Long live the sport”, “Weus’d a Herz hast wia a Bergwerk” or the secret one Austrian national anthem “I’m from Austria”. The Viennese is a born entertainer, whether as a presenter of various TV shows, as an actor or as a singer on stage – it is difficult to resist his mischievous charm and voice with the small pinch of Viennese dialect. But why should you, when you can immerse yourself so wonderfully in his now really remarkable collection of classic songs that didn’t make it onto the musical stage in Vienna for nothing in the incredibly successful “I’m from Austria – The Musical with the Hits by Rainhard Fendrich”. . Sometimes humorous, often ironic, sometimes melancholic, sometimes thoughtful, but always authentic, full of passion and above all with attitude.
With his new album “Starkregen” Rainhard Fendrich continues what he started with the previous album “SCHWARZODERWEISS” in 2016: the musical reflection of current events, profound and very intense. Fendrich’s inimitable power of observation is reflected in the variety of topics on “Heavy Rain”. With his own sarcasm, he characterizes the “widespread diseases” of our time and their stereotypical manifestations. In the midst of the critical diagnosis of the times, Fendrich is also convincing on the album with his emotional ballads. “Nur die Liebe” or the retrospective “Mein Leben” will undoubtedly ignite a sea of lights when Rainhard Fendrich goes on a big tour in 2022. You can tell he’s reached a point where it’s also important for him to take stock. He recently turned 67 – he has already been on stage for 40 years.
