PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir stated that competition does not only occur between players but coaches must also compete in the Indonesian National Team, both age groups or seniors. This is done so that Indonesian football is even better.

“PSSI has a choice of coaches and each coach has a target and competes with each other. So not only players, coaches also have to compete,” said Erick Thohir as quoted. BetweenTuesday (30/7).

However, for now, said Erick, all coaches are focused on their own parts, such as Nova Arianto who has accompanied the Indonesian U-16 National Team well.

“Coach Indra is focused on U-20, Coach Shin Tae-Yong is now still focused on seniors and U-23,” said Erick.

Meanwhile, the coach of the Indonesian U-19 National Team, Indra Sjafri, admitted that he would always follow what had been determined by PSSI.

“As a good Indonesian citizen, and I have a job that can only be in football, whatever PSSI assigns me, of course I cannot refuse,” he said.

Apart from that, he doesn’t want to be arrogant just because he led his team to win several championships, but wants to ask for more.

“I also have to know myself, measure myself, don’t just because I’m the champion then I feel the greatest, don’t. So far I’ve always been humble, never bragging,” said the coach from West Sumatra.

The most important thing, he continued, is to maintain the momentum that Indonesian football achievements are starting to improve.

“Let’s maintain this momentum together. Don’t appear to be uncoordinated by differentiating between Indonesian players,” he said.

According to the coach who has a UEFA Pro license, it is not good to differentiate between players because they are all Indonesian National Team players.

“There is no difference. So if you already use an Indonesian passport, that’s it. That’s not good for local children or descendants, even though they are very compact in (the team),” he said. (Ant/P-5)
