Purchasing an existing home did not cost more in the third quarter than a year earlier, according to new data published Friday by the statistical agency Statbel. On the other hand, the price of new housing increased by 5.1%.
House price inflation on an annual basis amounted to 1.2%, compared to 1.7% in the second quarter. But there therefore seems to be a significant difference between existing housing (0% inflation) and new housing (5.1%).
For four quarters, inflation for new construction has been higher than that for existing homes.
