ComPaRe depression, a cohort of patients dedicated to depressive disorders

The community of patients for research (ComPaRe) of the Assistance publique Hôpitaux de Paris (APHP) officially launched on November 23 a cohort dedicated to depression, with the objective of better understanding the experience of these patients and identifying ways to improve care.

Psychiatrist and researcher Astrid Chevance, who is the scientific manager, invites all people experiencing or having experienced a depressive episode to join the cohort. ComPaRe Dépression is thus the first French-speaking e-cohort including all people who have experienced or are experiencing depression, whether in the context of a single episode, recurrent episodes, bipolar disorder, or a perinatal context. In practice, this will involve answering, once a month, a 15-minute questionnaire on multiple dimensions of everyday life and illness. “The objective is to recruit 10,000 participants over 3 years, and to publish the first results within a year,” underlined A. Chevance.

The objectives of ComPaRe Dépression are to:

  • Better understand depression through an inclusive community of concerned people who testify to their experience and their experiences ;
  • Have a 360° view of depression through the collection of health, demographic, sociological, psychological and cultural data (self-clinical, cognitive style, social network, lifestyle, stigma, etc.).
  • Structuring a community participatory research where those involved can participate in knowledge production at various levels of engagement;
  • Encourage multi- and multidisciplinary collaborations to explore the frontiers of knowledge.
  • Ultimately, generate interventions aimed at improve health and quality of life of the people concerned.
