A warehouse burned down in Texingtal (Melk district) on Thursday night. 246 firefighters were involved in extinguishing the fire. Two buildings nearby – a plumber’s shop and a residential building – might be protected from the flames, said Johann Waxenegger, commander of FF Texing, to the APA. Residents were evacuated by firefighters. Around 5:00 a.m. the fire was out. Three firefighters were injured, as also reported by the media.

When the fire brigade arrived in Steingrub shortly following midnight, the warehouse of a company was already fully engulfed in fire. It was possible to prevent the fire from spreading to a plumber’s shop regarding seven meters away. “The windows of a residential building opposite burst due to the heat,” said Waxenegger.

Two firefighters were taken to the hospital with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. Another FF member suffered a minor burn on his forearm. In the morning, post-extinguishing work was underway. The cause of the fire was initially unknown.
