Consumption ” The declarations on the origin or the species of the wood sold in Switzerland leave much to be desired. In 2021, only 16% of audited companies did just that, notes the Federal Bureau of Consumer Affairs (BFC).

The BFC carried out 108 controls last year, he communicated yesterday. For 32% of companies, only some of the products were declared correctly. Nearly half of the companies did not declare any product completely and correctly.

As in previous years, the checks mainly targeted companies with a relatively high risk of declaring wood incorrectly, but also those selling wood products subject to declaration. For the first time, several small craft businesses have been checked under a simplified procedure, notes the BFC.

At almost all levels, the results of last year were worse than in 2020, notes the Bureau. That year, 30% of the companies audited still obtained the best rating. ATS
