Companies still lack confidence in AI tools

It is a topic of conversation, but it is more likely to cause concern than enthusiasm: we are talking about generative artificial intelligence.

It’s no surprise, because it’s part of everyday life: Generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) is a constant topic of conversation, but the majority of companies are hesitant when it comes to using these technologies. 64 percent of companies in Austria are not yet using the technology at all. 44 percent of them have no intention of implementing it in the near future. Only a small proportion of companies are open to the technology: almost a quarter (23 percent) are currently testing the use of the technology, and 13 percent already use it regularly. These figures come from the AI Trust Survey by the consulting firm Deloitte, which surveyed more than 500 Austrian executives in summer 2024 about their attitudes towards generative artificial intelligence.

“Considering that the topic gained momentum around two years ago, companies are still very hesitant,” says Evrim Bakir, Managing Partner in Consulting at Deloitte Austria. In view of the predicted recession, this urgently needs to change, otherwise growth potential will be missed.

Only a quarter trust

For Gen AI to reach its full potential, user trust is essential. However, almost a quarter (22 percent) of respondents currently have little or no trust in Gen AI.
