People Management is essential in CSCs (Shared Services Centers) to create a work environment that promotes the well-being and development of employees, with the aim of retaining talent and boosting the company’s growth.

According to survey of MIA (Market Intelligence Application Shared Service), data platform on CSC of the IEG (Institute of Management Engineering), the organizations planned several initiatives aimed at the management of the employees of their SSCs, highlighting the development of successors for leaders through a succession plan, which is one of the main focuses for 64 % of analyzed companies.

According to the person in charge of the Market intelligence and IEG Partner, Lara Pessanha, identifying and developing internal talent with leadership potential ensures an effective transition and cultivates an organizational culture that values excellence.

“The implementation of a succession plan for leaders is essential, considering the importance of the role they play in companies, as not all people have the right profile to be leaders. Therefore, organizations need to identify and develop internal talents with leadership potential”, he said, noting that this guarantees a gradual transition, avoiding gaps in management.

In addition, actions to increase team engagement and intensify training and capacity building were also mentioned by more than half of the CSCs. According to Pessanha, engagement is a relevant factor, as the operation of the SSCs is highly dynamic, with a routine that demands ensuring support for the business and, at the same time, always seeking improvements.

“In this line, the training also helps so that people are better qualified and updated in relation to market innovations, guaranteeing the sustainability and evolution of the model”, he evaluates.

The study also showed that technology is an important ally when it comes to innovation, especially Artificial intelligence (AI), since the technological trend has already been found in more than 30% of the CSCs.

For the person responsible for IEG’s Market Intelligence area, people management is a fundamental pillar both for the Shared Services Centers and for all companies, as it enhances human capacity, stimulates innovation and contributes to achieving better results . “In this way, planning and executing initiatives that help strengthen this pillar internally contributes positively to the balance of other factors that are essential for a SSC, such as customer satisfaction and excellence in processes, for example”, he concludes.
