How to turn effects on or off

Open WhatsApp, tap the “Settings” tab, select “Privacy” and activate “Allow camera effects”. To disable, uncheck the switch next to this option.

How to use effects, filters or backgrounds on WhatsApp

Start a video call as normal. Then tap the effects button (represented by a magic wand) or press and hold the selfie view.

To apply an effect, filter or background, select “Effects, filters or backgrounds” and choose the one you want to use.

To remove it, select the “-” button or the “-” with an arrow around it (at the top of the screen) to remove all effects.

You can still activate the retouching features by tapping the wand and the icon represented by a mask and a brush to activate or deactivate the effect.

To use low-light mode (which brightens the video when you’re in a dimly lit environment), tap the wand and then the light bulb icon to turn it on or off.
