The application Maps (Maps) do iOS/iPadOS 18 gained another cool function. This is the possibility of using the button Search Here (Search Here).
The premise is that you can search the surrounding area, even if you have dragged the map area to another location in a search result or have zoomed in or out on the app, for example.
See how to use it!
In the Maps app, search for a location and drag the map area or zoom.
If the search results are not updating automatically as you move, the “Search Here” button will appear on the screen.
Tap it and the app shows the visible area of the map with the search results.
Simple, right?!

**Interview with Sarah Thompson, Mobile Navigation App Specialist**
**Host:** Welcome, Sarah! It’s great to have you with us today to discuss the latest features in navigation apps. Recently, the HERE WeGo app has been gaining attention for its user-friendly design. What can you tell us about it?
**Sarah:** Thanks for having me! HERE WeGo is indeed making waves in the navigation app space. It’s a free app that caters to both local and global travelers. Its strength lies in its intuitive interface and the ability to guide users through familiar and foreign territories alike.
**Host:** That sounds promising! I’ve also heard that Apple Maps has introduced a new feature called “Search Here.” Could you explain how that works?
**Sarah:** Absolutely! The “Search Here” feature in iOS/iPadOS 18 is a game changer. It allows users to search for locations in their immediate surroundings, regardless of how they’ve manipulated the map. So, whether you’ve zoomed in or dragged the map away from your original search result, you can still find nearby places effectively.
**Host:** That sounds really helpful for users who might be exploring a new area. How do you see these features enhancing the overall navigation experience?
**Sarah:** Both HERE WeGo and Apple Maps are focused on improving usability and accessibility. The ability to search your surroundings seamlessly allows users to be more spontaneous and makes the navigation process feel less rigid. It encourages exploration, which is what traveling is all about!
**Host:** Great insights, Sarah! It’s exciting to see how these apps are evolving. Any final thoughts on the future of navigation apps?
**Sarah:** I think we’ll continue to see innovations that enhance user experience, especially with the integration of AI and real-time data. With smart features like “Search Here” and intuitive maps like HERE WeGo, navigating will become even more effortless for everyone.
