The native app Photos (Photos) recognizes groups of people and pets that often appear together in photos and videos, organizing them into group collections.
However, it is possible to create a group with any combination of people and pets from the “People and Pets” collection manually. Next, see how to create them using an iPhone/iPad with iOS/iPadOS 18 or a Mac with macOS Sequoia 15!
How to create a group of people and pets in Photos on iPhone/iPad
With the Photos app open, tap the “People and Pets” section and “Create” (in the top right). Select the people and pets you want in the group and select “Add”.
Then tap the default name, enter a custom name for the group, and then tap
“OK”.
To edit or delete this group, tap “People and Pets” again and, below “Groups”, keep your finger on the group you want to edit, choosing one of the options shown.
How to create a group of people and pets in Photos on Mac
With the app open, click on “People and Pets” (in the left sidebar) and “Create” in the top right part of the screen. Select the people or pets you want to include in the group and go to “Add”.
To edit or delete the group, go back to “People and Pets”, right-click on it and choose whether you want to rename it, add people, remove people or delete the group.
