Casa no iPhone” style=”margin: auto;margin-bottom: 5px;max-width: 100%” />
From the iOS/iPadOS 18 and the macOS Sequoia 15Apple implemented a new function in the native application Casa (Home) which allows you to give your household guests access to locks, garage doors, and alarm systems — for up to 29 people.
The cool thing is that, in addition to giving control to these smart devices, home owners can limit the times that guests can control them. See how to use this feature!
How to make notes on accessories within the Home app [iPhone, iPad e Mac]
With the Home app open on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, tap/click the “+”, “Add People” and then “Guest”.
Select the “+” to choose people with an Apple Account from your contact list, or enter their Apple Account email addresses in the “To” field.
After doing so, you can choose one of the following options:
- Anytime: you can access the selected accessories at any time;
- Specific Dates: so that the selected accessories are controlled only on the specified dates;
- Specific Days and Times: Guests will be able to access selected accessories only on specified days and times.
Select which doors, locks and security system accessories the guest will be able to access and tap/click “Invite”.
Ask the guest to tap “Accept” in the notification or, in the Home app on the iPhone/iPad, go to the three dots, in “House Settings” and tap the guest’s name.
According to Apple, what your guests do will be recorded in Activity History, showing up to 30 days of activity — with times, accessories used and people’s names, if applicable.

**How can users manage and customize access for guests in the Home app?**
**Interview with a Home App Guest: The New Access Feature**
**Interviewer:** Good morning! Thank you for joining us today to share your experience with the new Home app feature for controlling smart accessories. Could you start by introducing yourself?
**Guest:** Good morning! I’m Alex, and I’m an avid user of smart home technology. I just started using the Home app on my devices, and I’ve recently been given guest access by a friend.
**Interviewer:** That sounds great, Alex! I understand that the Home app now allows guests to control accessories like locks and garage doors. How do you feel about being granted this access?
**Guest:** It’s incredibly convenient! My friend gave me access so that I can help them with their smart home system when they’re away. It definitely makes things easier, especially when they need someone to check on their house.
**Interviewer:** That’s a fantastic use case. What do you think about the different access options available? For instance, the ability to control these devices at any time, or just on specific dates or times?
**Guest:** I think the flexibility is one of the best features! Being able to specify when I can control the devices adds a layer of security and trust. For example, my friend chose to allow me access only on certain days when they’re on vacation. It means I can still help them, but I’m not able to access the house at random times.
**Interviewer:** Yes, that definitely balances convenience and security. Have you encountered any challenges while trying to use the Home app so far?
**Guest:** Not really! The interface is quite user-friendly. Adding myself as a guest was straightforward, and I found the instructions clear. I think anyone familiar with smartphones will find it easy to navigate.
**Interviewer:** That’s good to hear! Do you think this feature could change how people manage their smart homes with guests or family members?
**Guest:** Absolutely! It opens up a whole new level of collaboration. Families or groups living together can share control without compromising security. Plus, you can help friends who might not be tech-savvy by managing their devices for them when needed.
**Interviewer:** Very insightful! Lastly, how excited are you to explore more features within the Home app moving forward?
**Guest:** I’m really looking forward to it! As smart home technology continues to evolve, I can’t wait to see how the Home app upgrades and what new features will be implemented to make life even easier.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Alex, for sharing your thoughts! It sounds like the Home app is a beneficial tool for many users.
**Guest:** Thank you for having me! I’m excited for the future of smart homes!
