Toumodi, Jul 15, 2023 (AIP) – The COVID Program Assistant of the John Hopkins Program and Communication Center (JHU-CCP) Coulibaly Nibon Tinnin, calls on the elected officials and community leaders of Toumodi to get involved in raising awareness among the populations in for their vaccination once morest COVID-19 and other diseases.
Mr. Coulibaly made this plea on Wednesday July 12, 2023 at the town hall of Toumodi during a ceremony organized as part of the breakthrough action project aimed at increasing vaccination coverage in Côte d’Ivoire.
He assured his interlocutors that a vaccination coverage of 70% of the population once morest COVID19 will increase “herd immunity”, hence the importance of the involvement of community leaders.
“Vaccination coverage has gone from 72% for the first dose to 57 for the second dose, a regression of 15% in the health district of Toumodi which covers the departments of Toumodi and Djèkanou”, revealed for his part the nurse in the district, in charge of the extended vaccination programme, Vincent Kouakou.
Since March 2020, the breakthrough action project with the financial support of USAID aims to support the Ivorian government through the Ministry of Health, Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage in raising awareness of the acceptance by COVID19 vaccine populations and their adherence to the expanded immunization program.
