Commotion in La Matanza: a woman was murdered and nothing was stolen from her

A 45-year-old woman was killed with a bullet to the abdomen when she arrived in her car at her home in the Buenos Aires town of Los Pinos, La Matanza district. Investigators believe that she was attacked during an attempted robbery by two men who were traveling on a motorcycle, police and judicial sources reported Thursday.

The event took place this Wednesday night around 9:00 p.m., at the intersection of Buchardo and Ambrosetti streets. The victim, identified as Lorena Elizabeth Rodríguez (45), was returning to her home in her Fiat Argo.

When Rodríguez was entering her home, she was approached by two motorcyclists who, “without saying a word,” began to struggle with her while she tried to hide behind the bars of the door of her home, the sources indicated.

During this situation, the attackers fired two shots, one of which hit Lorena’s abdomen, while the other ricocheted off the doorknob of her home.

As a result of the injuries received, the woman was transferred to the Morón hospital, where she died.

A judicial source explained that the victim “did not have any conflict with third parties”, so the main hypothesis is that it was an attack during an attempted robbery.

“We are investigating the nearby cameras since presumably there were no reasons for such action other than an act of insecurity due to an attempted robbery,” clarified a spokesperson linked to the cause.

Meanwhile, the murderers “fled through Aguado to the Morón side,” explained an investigator.

On the other hand, the informants detailed that Rodríguez was dedicated to the sale of food, while “he did not have a partner” and that “he lived with his mother and brother.”

In this regard, María Laura, sister-in-law of the deceased woman, explained to the press that the victim had come from “going to look for some medicine for her dogs” and that following parking the vehicle, she was approached by the two assailants.

“Lore knew that her family was inside the house and she was not going to allow anyone to enter. If she had realized that she was being followed, she would not have stopped here at the door,” María Laura told the media.

In addition, the woman pointed out in shock that her sister-in-law “did not deserve this” and that “she was an exceptional person.”

“He gave everything to everyone. He had no children, but he loved his nephews as if they were his own. He was always there for everyone. No one has anything bad to say regarding her. She didn’t deserve it. It was for nothing. They didn’t even take his wallet, ”she lamented.

Finally, he asked the residents of the area for help so that they can provide information that allows investigators to find the perpetrators of the crime.

“We want to ask the neighbors if they please, following 8:30 a.m., if someone has cameras or has information, they can communicate anonymously and help to clarify so that this is not something else.

The La Matanza Homicide Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) is involved in the investigation, led by Karina Licalzi, who labeled the act as “simple homicide.”
