Common Market Group approved more than one hundred progress reports, five resolutions and three projects for the CMC

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Common Market Group (GMC), the executive body of Mercosur, approved this Saturday during its meeting in the Historic Building of the Port of Asunción, more than one hundred progress reports from its dependent forums, five resolutions, and submitted three draft Decisions to the Common Market Council (CMC), which will be discussed at its ordinary meeting scheduled for tomorrow, July 7.

At this 62nd Extraordinary Meeting of the Common Market Group (GMC), with the participation of delegations from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, the progress made under the Paraguayan Pro Tempore Presidency was highlighted.

The approval of the Resolution that creates the Ad Hoc Group on Intellectual Property, dependent on the GMC, is noteworthy. This body will allow Mercosur to work on issues of relevance to the States Parties in this area.

This is to generate consensus and seek to unify criteria on all issues related to disciplines such as geographical indications, trademarks, patents, copyrights and related rights, among others.

The Paraguayan delegation was headed by the Vice Minister of Economic Relations and Integration, Patricia Frutos Ruíz, acting as Pro Tempore President; the Argentine delegation was headed by Ambassador Gabriel Martínez, Undersecretary of Mercosur and International Economic Negotiations; the Brazilian delegation was headed by Ambassador Gisela Figueiredo Padovan, Director of the Mercosur Department; and the Uruguayan delegation was headed by Ambassador Alejandro Mernies, Director General for Integration Affairs and Mercosur.
