Thefts, break-ins, attacks: The well-known 13-year-old serial offender from the greater Linz area is, as reported, 14 years old in September this year and has therefore become of criminal responsibility. Just two days following his birthday, he committed a crime; together with accomplices, he is said to have committed a serious robbery in which the victim was seriously injured. He has been in custody ever since. The indictment was served yesterday, as a spokesman for the Linz public prosecutor’s office said upon request.
In any case, it was not the 14-year-old’s idea to gain access to the apartment of an Iraqi (31) in Linz and rob him of money and drugs. The public prosecutor’s office assumes that a 20-year-old woman who knows the 31-year-old was the client. She must therefore answer for incitement to aggravated robbery. The 14-year-old and his 19-year-old accomplice are said to have gone to the house where the Iraqi lives. According to the prosecution, they knew from the 20-year-old that the man kept a key to the apartment in a mailbox.
Wallpaper knife as a weapon
This meant they were able to get into the living room of the completely surprised 31-year-old without breaking in. The 19-year-old is said to have threatened the Iraqi with a wallpaper knife and also injured him by cutting his lower leg. “Where is the money? “What’s the password for the safe?” the 14-year-old is said to have shouted at the victim. He is said to have hit the man with his fists, but he remained silent and did not reveal the safe code. Not even when the 19-year-old hit the 31-year-old in the head with a glass vase. The man managed to escape from his apartment. The two suspected perpetrators stayed and looked for cash before fleeing.
As it turned out, a 15-year-old was also said to have been involved in the attack, so he was standing outside the Gleite house. The 19-year-old is also accused of burglary and is said to have broken into a coin cash register in the spring. In this case too, the 20-year-old is said to have been the client. The young woman is also accused of stealing cash from a bar.
Acquaintances in the drug world
The quartet knows each other from the drug world. A friend of the 14-year-old, who lives in the same care facility as him, is an acquaintance of the 20-year-old defendant. The boy is said to have committed around 200 crimes before his 14th birthday, but he cannot be accused of committing them because he is not of criminal responsibility. The indictment speaks of “countless entries for relevant delinquency”.
The 14-year-old made a full confession to the aggravated robbery and he also incriminated his accomplices, says public prosecutor Florian Roitner. As reported, the victim suffered serious injuries, including an orbital floor fracture – a break in the floor of the bony eye socket – and a conjunctival injury.
The 14-year-old prisoner now faces up to seven and a half years in prison, which is half the maximum sentence that adults can receive for aggravated robbery. The two adult co-defendants face up to 15 years in prison.
