Commitment to Supporting the Development and Coaching of Athletes to Achieve Brilliant Achievements

MIND ID, BUMN Holding the Indonesian Mining Industry, shows its commitment to supporting the development of national sports, especially athletics, through collaboration with the Executive Board of the Indonesian Athletics Association (PB PASI). Over the past five years, MIND ID has consistently made a significant contribution in developing national athletes to achieve brilliant achievements on the international stage.

MIND ID Corporate Secretary, Heri Yusuf, said that support for athletics is part of MIND ID’s social responsibility in encouraging Indonesia’s young generation to excel at the global level.

“We believe that sport, especially athletics, not only forms a healthy physique, but also creates a disciplined, tough and competitive character. “Through our support to PB PASI, we hope to continue to contribute to making Indonesia proud in the international arena,” he said, Monday (30/9).

MIND ID’s support for PB PASI has produced brilliant results where the trained athletes have won various awards at international level. One athlete who shines is Lalu Muhammad Zohri, a sprinter who won a gold medal at the U20 World Athletics Championships in Finland in 2018. Zohri has also appeared at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics, representing Indonesia in the 100 meter dash.

“This achievement not only makes the nation proud, but also shows the quality of coaching provided by PB PASI with full support from MIND ID,” emphasized Heri.

Apart from Zohri, other athletes such as Emilia Nova, a hurdle specialist, also won a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games and gold at the SEA Games. Sapwaturrahman, a long jump athlete, successfully brought home a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games and a gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games.

These achievements are clear evidence of MIND ID’s commitment to supporting the development of athletics in Indonesia. Throughout 2023, through an intensive coaching program, as many as 50 young athletes and 20 coaches have received training from experienced national coaches.

“This program not only focuses on improving physical skills, but also on developing character and non-physical skills (soft skills),” said Heri.

Apart from providing quality training, MIND ID also supports the development of sports facilities and infrastructure to support athletes’ training. This ensures that athletes have adequate means to hone their skills and achieve higher achievements.

In recent years, MIND ID and PB PASI have made history through various achievements in international events such as the Cambodia SEA Games 2023, the Asian Indoor Athletics Championship in Kazakhstan, and the Busan International Pole Vault Meeting 2023. PB PASI athletes have also become Indonesia’s mainstay. at the XXI Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) 2024.

MIND ID views sport as an important pillar in forming the character of superior human resources, in line with the vision of realizing the Golden Generation 2045.

“We are committed to continuing to support sports, especially athletics, because we believe that Indonesia’s young generation has great potential to achieve achievements at world level,” concluded Heri.

Through ongoing collaboration with PB PASI, MIND ID is optimistic that it can continue to encourage national sporting achievements, while also contributing to building a globally competitive future for the younger generation. (D-2)
