The Algerian hydrocarbon group Sonatrah announced in a press release on Monday the commissioning of two gas fields in Berkine, in the eastern part of the Algerian Sahara, under the Berkine-Sud contract signed with the Italian group Eni.
The contract signed between Sonatrach and Eni in December 2021, under the aegis of the new law on hydrocarbons, makes it possible to reach a daily production of 1 million cubic meters of gas and 4,000 barrels of associated liquids, specifies the press release.
It is expected that this production capacity will be increased to 2 million cubic meters by the end of the current year, the document adds.
These additional quantities, which are added to the quantities produced by the two Berkine Nord fields, which entered production last July, increase the volumes of gas produced by the Sonatrach – Eni association and contribute to the increase in Algerian gas exports. destined for the European market, Sonatrah said.
