CHAIRMAN of Commission I DPR Meutya Hafid asked the TNI to prepare standards for managing the security and maintenance of defense equipment, following the fire incident at the Regional Ammunition Warehouse (Gudmurah) of the Jaya Regional Military Command in Ciangsana Village, Gunung Putri District, Bogor Regency, West Java, Saturday (30/3) Evening.

“The Indonesian Army must prepare standards for securing the maintenance and upkeep of defense equipment, especially those whose storage locations are in densely populated areas, as happened yesterday,” said Meutya, Monday (1/4).

He emphasized that the TNI might evaluate this incident so that it does not happen once more. One of the highlights is the technical instructions for more stringent maintenance and maintenance of ammunition within the TNI.

Meutya also asked the TNI to be proactive in collecting data on community losses related to damage to residents’ houses affected by the fire at the Yonarmed ammunition warehouse belonging to the Jaya Military Command.

“The TNI AD must be responsible for compensating for losses if there are losses in the community due to the fire incident,” he said. (Z-8)
