We met actor Kim Seong-cheol, who played the role of ‘Jjingpyeok King’, the de facto leader who leads the manipulation of public opinion by showing off his quick thinking in the fresh movie ‘Comment Unit’ about online public opinion manipulation. ‘Jjingppeu King’ is the leader of ‘Team Aleph’, a so-called comment unit that manipulates online public opinion as a means of making money. While he was working in an organized manner with ‘Chat That Kat’ (played by Kim Dong-hwi) and ‘Pap Tak’ (played by Hong Kyung), an unintentional incident occurred. This is a person who is afraid of the situation that occurs and becomes twisted as a result.
Kim Seong-cheol, who said he was getting closer to Son Seok-gu while promoting the movie because there were no face-to-face scenes in the movie, said, “He is an actor I respect so much, and he is a senior whose work I was so impressed by that I wondered if there was someone in our country who could express himself like that. Even while reading the script, It was disappointing that we didn’t have a scene where we met, but it was even more disappointing that we couldn’t meet once while filming. Lim Sang-jin, played by Son Seok-gu, didn’t overlap because the filming locations were different. But in the middle, Son Seok-gu came to hang out while I was filming. At that time, it was a bit disappointing. “I felt like my shoulders were lifting up,” he said, expressing his thoughts about Son Seok-gu.

Kim Seong-cheol, who referred to Son Seok-gu as ‘brother’, said, “I have my own standards for calling him older brother, senior, and teacher.” He added, “If you are more than 10 years older than me, you are senior, and if you are more than 20 years older than me, you are teacher. I habitually call him senior.” “It was uncomfortable to call him that, but a senior who is more than 10 years older than me is someone who has been acting for more than 20 years, so he is a true senior,” he said, explaining his own standards. At first, Son Seok-gu was also a senior, but when the person in question asked him to call him hyung, from then on he added the word ‘hyung’ and made people laugh.

Regarding Kim Dong-hwi and Hong Kyung, members of ‘Team Aleph’ who worked together throughout the production, they said, “They are both introverted and don’t talk much. They are both friends who are focused on one field. Hong Kyung loves movies so much that just talking about movies is enough.” “We can spend more than 6 hours. Dong-hwi really likes talking about acting. However, because their personalities are different, I haven’t seen them talk much. It’s usually difficult for people of the same age to become closer. It seems like they are still stuck in the same-age trap.” He also revealed the behind-the-scenes information like a senior looking at his cute juniors.

When asked which part of his real self was similar to the character, he said, “I think ‘Jjingpyeok King’ is quick and clever. I also think I have good quick wits, and rather than being smart, I’m quick-witted and good at understanding situations, so I incorporated that.” He also praised himself, saying, “I did it because I told him to.”

He, who is also nicknamed an idol in the musical world, asked back with a big smile, “Me?” But from the look on his face, it seemed like he really liked that nickname.

Kim Seong-cheol said, “As an actor, my dream was to try all media. My goal was to be the leading character in plays and musicals, and I thought how great it would be to achieve that in one year. But I achieved that last year.” He talked about showing off his outstanding performance on and off the screen.

Last year, he achieved his wish by performing in a play, a musical, filming the Netflix series ‘Hell 2’, and filming a movie. He said, “Because theater is a medium made up of dialogue, movement, breathing, and energy, it was fun to create it with the audience.” It was fun to approach it in detail because my facial expressions, eyes, and even the tremors of my lips were all caught on the big screen. In dramas, it was fun to act quickly because the scene was moving quickly, and in musicals, the power of music was great, so it was fun and exciting. “It’s good,” he said, adding that even though each medium is different, I really like each of their charms, and I don’t want to give up any of them.

Kim Seong-cheol said that although he is working really hard, when he is not exposed to the media, not many people recognize him on the street, which is actually good. “Rather than wanting to become more famous, this is just what I like. I can see more works, and I can enjoy performances and media.” “We can do it in parallel, so I think there will be more opportunities. I have no intention of focusing or insisting on just one medium,” he said, expressing his desire to continue his multi-faceted activities like now.

It was 10 years of hard work. Kim Seong-cheol, now in his 10th year since his debut, said, “I’ve come to think that I’ve been living really hard. I don’t think about whether I’ve grown over the past 10 years, but the fact that I’ve worked for 10 years is proof of how I’ve lived and that I’ve lived hard without resting.” “I don’t look back and don’t plan for the distant future. Just this moment. I’ll face reality and focus more on what I’m doing now,” he said, talking about the 10 years he’s been working as an actor.

Kim Seong-cheol, who is working hard on promotional activities as the movie is about to be released, also talked about the movie ‘Breakfast’, which features Kim Go-eun, a 10th grade classmate of Hanyejong, and is about to reach 10 million viewers. “I’m really jealous. I’m so jealous. We’d be so thankful and happy if it was a hit, but I don’t think we’ll do well because of ‘Bamyo.’ I’ll try to contact Kim Go-eun when we reach 10 million,” he said, making people laugh as he didn’t hide his envy.

‘Comment Unit’, a story about an anonymous informant who claims that Lim Sang-jin, a reporter who was suspended after writing an article about a large company, manipulated online public opinion, is released on March 27th.
