Whether you want to watch the latest blockbusters or the UEFA Cup on the big screen, there are plenty of ideas to suit all budgets to help you create your own cinema right behind your home.
Want to make a splash at home or at the campsite this summer? Set up a home theater outside and invite the family and, why not, your neighbors to watch UEFA (Euro) matches on TVA Sports until the wee hours! Not to mention a good supply of refreshments and chips. All for a few hundred dollars.
Material
A projector, a screen, and anything else you have, such as low or lounge chairs, an electric extension, a low or folding table, blankets, cushions, garlands OF , solar sensor LED lightingetc.
First, choose the right location based on the sunset so that the rays do not dazzle the screen.
The screen
For a tight budget, a simple white hanging sheet works great. After a quick ironing, secure it from the top and weight it down from the bottom to keep it taut. Recommended diagonal size; between 100 and 150 inches, 16:9 aspect ratio.
One notch higher, get a screen canvas (150 in = 2.54 m) under $100 online that just hangs on a wall.
Pour $100 and up there are projector screens that include a rigid stand. Some models, like this one, even allow rear projection or this one with tripod, straps and carrying bag.
The projector
A projector with around 3000 lumens will do the trick in complete darkness on a screen of 100 inches or less. For a diagonal of more than 100 inches, consider models with 5000 lumens and more. With these characteristics:
- Lumens versus ANSI Lumens? Multiply or divide by 5. Ex. 200 ANSI lumens = 1000 lumens;
- Native 1080p high definition minimum (1920×1080);
- Ignore any “4K” mentions in descriptions;
- LED lamp for its low consumption and a significantly longer lifespan;
- Autofocus or manual focus, both are good;
- While the picture quality is good, expect these models to be noisier than higher-end models.
- By selecting a 1920×1080 definition and LED lamp, the choices on Amazon are mainly limited to Yaber products: Yaber V9 (non-member $370 or $333 Prime member – $120 coupon), Yaber V12 (newer, respectively $530 or $460 – $140 coupon). A check mark in definition below, the BenQ GV10 ($153, if available), Wimius P61 1280×720 (140 $).
L’audio
Outdoors, don’t rely on the power of the projector’s speaker, although it may be sufficient on some models.
And if the projector does not integrate a WiFi connection, my choice leans towards a connected speaker like the Roku Streambar which not only offers wireless connectivity but also quite powerful sound, bass included. Otherwise, any streaming player like theApple TV 4K WiFi ($179) with speaker Apple HomePod for 3D sound ($129 or $399 depending on the model) or your Bluetooth headphones for discreet listening.
