Captain Abdoulaye 2 Cissé, former element of the Autonomous Battalion of Airborne Troops, appeared in a report broadcast on national television, on the evening of this Tuesday, January 2, 2024, where he admits to having participated in an operation which aimed to overthrow Col Mamadi Doumbouya, in power since September 5, 2021.
He and his accomplices including Commander Alya Camara benefited from the pardon of the president of the transition on December 31. But it was today that the Directorate of Communication and Information (DCI) of the presidency broadcast their confessions. Captain Cissé was according to the same source the mastermind of this putsch operation.
“I admit having participated in meetings which concerned participation in a coup d’état once morest Mr. Mamadi Doumbouya,” he admitted before adding that he had even recorded his takeover speech under the name of the National Transitional Council of Guinea (CNTG), in the company of two (2) men in Dubréka.
He would have come into contact with Commander Alya Camara, formerly in charge of special forces operations alongside Doumbouya, who was in prison, through an adjutant during the preparations for the coup. It is the commander who would have sought his contact because of his angry history with the president of the transition.
“It was a friend from my class, Koba, who took the steps. I was sheltered somewhere in Kagbelen and we planned because they were ready to act. I asked what is needed? They said no! They have elements for that…”, specifies Captain Abdoulaye 2 Cissé.
Everything would be ready to take action. The members of the commando recognized, in front of the DCI cameras, their responsibilities in preparing this undertaking to undermine state security. “I participated in the sacrifice of a camel at the request of Abdoulaye 2 Cissé to carry out the coup,” admits another in the video. Among them, there were two (2) women.
Commander Alya Camara, former number 2 of the special forces, thanks the president of the transition who was kind enough to grant him a pardon. “I thank the President of the Republic for giving me freedom, for giving me the chance to see my family, who suffered as much as me. I am truly overwhelmed with joy, I sincerely thank him. Let him (Col Mamadi Doumbouya, editor’s note), know that I am in his mind, day and night,” rejoiced the pardoned soldier on Sunday December 31, 2023.
