Command stole 20 containers with gold, silver and electronic devices in Manzanillo

A criminal group operated the theft of 20 containers from a company that operates in Colima, with bulk precious metals, such as gold and silver, as well as electronic devices.

The federal agency reported that the facts did not occur in the port of Manzanillo but in the facilities of a particular company. This is what the statement quoted by national media says:

The protection and security of the merchandise in this type of facility is the responsibility of the owner of said place (private security) and has the permission of the municipal government to carry out its activities, remaining outside the area of responsibility of this institution.

The newspaper Reforma reported that the robbery occurred on June 5.

The armed group, of up to 15 men, took control of the company Alonso Mireles Maneuvers (MAM) and extracted the loot throughout the early morning, without the authorities being alerted.

The Secretary of the Navy is in charge of the security and administration of the port, considered one of the most important in the country due to the amount of merchandise that enters and leaves the country. However, companies that are outside the port area, as happened in this case, have private security.

A port precinct is the federal area delimited and determined by the Secretary of the Navy and the Secretary of Welfare in ports, terminals and marinas, which includes areas of water and public domain land destined for the establishment of facilities and the provision of port services.says the statement.

The criminals reviewed the containers and chose 20 to steal them: “so they proceeded to mount them on tractor-trailer platforms to be able to take them out of the company’s yard and move them to a nearby place.”

The prosecutor’s office of Colima, the Army, the Navy and the National Guard participate in the investigations to find those responsible, the newspaper Reforma reported.
