The Minister of Social Affairs, Nadine Nathalie Awanang Anato, supervised the official award ceremony of scholarships to thirty (30) new Gabonese high school graduates from the class of 2024, beneficiaries of the YAM’NA scholarship program of the Compagnie Minière de Ogooué (COMILOG). Also taking part in the said ceremony were the Public Affairs Director of Comilog and General Representative of the Eramet Group in Gabon, André Massard, the Technical Advisor to the Minister in charge of National Education and the Director General of the National Scholarship Agency of Gabon, Professor Ruphin Ndjambou.
These scholarships called YAM’NA, “Mutual aid” in the Nzébi language, are part of the Eramet Beyond for Contributive Impacts program, a flagship initiative of the Eramet Group’s Act for Positive Mining roadmap, which reflects the commitment of Comilog and the Eramet Group to education, social equity and excellence.
The YAM’NA scholarship program aims to offer the best Gabonese high school graduates the opportunity to pursue a high-level course in public universities and renowned prestigious schools in Gabon and to guarantee quality education, allowing young people, whatever their socio-economic situation, to succeed in their life project.
Awarded for a period of three years, these scholarships allow deserving young people to reveal their potential and realize their ambitions, while integrating sustainably into society and promoting equity and excellence. The beneficiaries expressed their recognition and gratitude to the Ogooué Mining Company for this valuable support.
By supporting these 30 young talents, Comilog is helping to build a social development model focused on equity and excellence. “Thanks to the YAM’NA initiative, we are investing in the future of Gabonese youth and supporting the essential pillars of our society: education and solidarity”declared André Massard, Director of Public Affairs of Comilog and General Representative of the Eramet Group in Gabon.
The objective of this program, entirely funded by Comilog, is to support young Gabonese high school graduates with high potential from modest backgrounds in higher education, up to the Bachelor level in the country’s best universities. It thus intends to contribute to the reduction of inequalities linked to education and gender, as well as to the training of young people.
This commitment is fully in line with the vision of Eramet and Comilog, which aspire to create positive and lasting impacts within the communities where they operate.
