ComicBDFIL changes date and location

In 2023, the Lausanne festival will move from September to May, for two weekends, and will leave the Place de la Riponne.

BDFIL/Boulet

This Fasting weekend, there will be no BDFIL festival as such. Some activities and exhibitions devoted to comics still take place (see below), but not a large-scale event. The festival in fact separated from its director Dominique Radrizzani last year and wanted to take the time to rethink itself.

The two new co-directors, Léonore Porchet and Gaëlle Kovaliv, who took office at the beginning of September, announced major changes for the 2023 edition on Friday. This will therefore no longer take place on the weekend of the Federal Fast, in September, but at the beginning of May. Each festival will now start two weeks before the Ascension weekend, but the latter will not be included in the program dates. “We no longer wanted people to have to choose between enjoying a long weekend and coming to the festival.”

Dates for 2023 will be May 1-14. During these two weeks, the exhibitions will be open to the public from Wednesday afternoon to Sunday. And Monday to Wednesday morning for classes and organized tours. The bar, signings and entertainment areas will take place from Friday afternoon to Sunday, therefore from May 5 to 7 and from May 12 to 14.

Venue announced in November

The festival will also move, leaving Place de la Riponne “for another high-traffic Lausanne district”. Which? Motus for the moment, everything is not yet definitively settled. This location and the concept of the next festival will be announced in November and the line-up in February 2023.

In the meantime, there are still comic strips this weekend in Lausanne, BDFIL occupying the Forum de l’Hôtel de Ville with many activities for all audiences, as well as the Amaretto space on October 29 and 30 for a MONSTER weekend.
