Comic-Con: the recap of announcements for the Marvel series

Job par Alexis Lebrun July 27, 2022

Canceled two years in a row due to the health crisis, the convention has returned to San Diego by welcoming hordes of geeks thirsty for pop culture for the first time since 2019. The opportunity for the great guru of Marvel Studios (Kevin Feige) to present the novelties to come for the MCU, and in particular the next series planned on Disney +, available with CANAL +.

My name is Groot, August 10, 2022

We start with the cutest superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While waiting for the release of the third episode of Guardians of the Galaxy in cinemas (James Gunn, 2023), the adorable Baby Groot will be back in a few days with a series of five animated shorts. It is called My name is Groot (sic), and it looks quite refreshing for the summer and an audience of 7 to 77 years old.

She-Hulk: Lawyer, August 17, 2022

It’s the next big live-action Marvel series. We will come back to it in length, width and crosswise when it is released, but in the meantime, we can already say that She-Hulk will mark the first MCU appearance of Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner’s green cousin.

And to give the reply to the irresistible Mark Ruffalo, it is the actress Tatiana Maslany who has been chosen. Let’s hope the show manages to overcome the criticism over its superheroine’s looks…

What If…?, season 2, early 2023

You remember What If…?, the Marvel animated series released last summer and narrated by the wonderful voice of Jeffrey Wright (The Watcher)? Well, a second season will arrive on Disney+ early next year, with nine new independent episodes set in alternate timelines, featuring Hela, Captain Carter, Valkyrie, Odin, the Winter Soldier. , The Mandarin or Hulk and Iron Man. And it’s not over, since a season 3 has already been announced at Comic-Con.

Secret Invasion, Spring 2023

This is the series that will open the ball of the MCU Phase V, behind the highly anticipated return of Paul Rudd in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Peyton Reed, 2023). And its cast promises to be simply incredible, since the unalterable Samuel L. Jackson (back in the skin of Nick Fury) will be surrounded by the faithful Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), the ghost War Machine (Don Cheadle), Talos, le Skrull they Captain Marvel (Ben Mendelsohn), the brilliant Everett K. Ross from Black Panther (Martin Freeman), and two newcomers who are Hollywood stars: Olivia Colman and Emilia Clarke. In short, the level of hype is very high.

Loki, season 2, summer 2023

Released a year ago, the first season of Loki is one of the best of the MCU’s short but already storied history on Disney+. In other words, the new adventures of the God of Mischief are eagerly awaited next summer, especially since Tom Hiddelston will always be accompanied there by Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Ravonna ( Gugu Mbatha-Raw). But the shooting has only just started, so we’ll have to be patient.

Echo, summer 2023

Last winter, the series Hawkeye was also one of the most beautiful surprises of the MCU on Disney +. The series introduced the antagonistic character of Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), a superheroine who suffers from deafness, but for whom the martial arts hold no secrets.

This dear Echo is far too cool to settle for a supporting role, and so she will be making her return in her own series next summer, where she will find Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) and a certain Daredevil (Charlie Cox) , to which we will return below.

X-Men ’97, Fall 2023

While waiting to find the X-Men in the MCU one day, Marvel will already resurrect the cult animated series of the 1990s, which disappeared in 1997.

It will obviously be with the voice actors still alive, and inevitably a lot of new voices too. Big blow of old to be expected for the fans of the time, but the nostalgia is at this price.

Ironheart, Fall 2023

If you miss Tony Stark’s high-tech superhero costume, this is a series to follow. Because it will be centered on Riri Williams, a gifted young superheroine who makes herself an armor worthy of Iron Man.

Ironheart will be played by Dominique Thorne, but the character will already make a first appearance in the MCU with the highly anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Ryan Coogler, 2022) scheduled for next November.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos, hiver 2023

« It’s been Agatha all along! » And WandaVision is still to this day the best Marvel seriesit owes it in part to the presence of the excellent Kathryn Hahn in the role of the witch Agatha Harkness, disguised in the series as an intrusive neighbor.

Kevin Feige has understood this well, and we will therefore find the character in a spin-off planned in a little while, and which has just been renamed (he was previously called House of Harkness). Fortunately, we already know that this black comedy will be written by Jac Schaeffer, the showrunner of WandaVisionwhich is rather reassuring news.

Daredevil: Born Again, printemps 2024

We saved the best for last, since the big announcement of this Comic-Con on the Marvel series side is obviously the return of Matt Murdock in his own series, which disappeared from the screens in 2018 following three memorable seasons on Netflix.

We know that Disney+ has recovered all of the Marvel series released on Netflix at the time, and so the most popular of them will be entitled to an unexpected sequel, with the return of actor Charlie Cox in the Daredevil skin, for a record total of eighteen new episodes. But beware: adored by fans, the Netflix series is known for its darkness and violence, so this new version produced by Disney will be watched closely…
