The amateur theater lovers enjoyed the “Comedy of a Handiman”, an impressive play whose structure and conception reminded one of Mayakovsky’s poetry and something from the golden age of silent cinema, on the evening of Friday, June 28, in the outdoor area of the Old Slaughterhouses.
The audience watched a bitter… comedy staged as part of the Amateur Theater Festival by the “Together” theater group of A ELME Achaia. A comedy that several times turned into a black existential drama with a comedic cover. A constant acrobatics on the edge of comedy and sadness. Between the theater of the absurd and the comic farce.
The play was written in 1928 by Nikolaj Erdman but remains ever relevant. Relentlessly modern and relentlessly intelligent, Erdmann’s frenetic comedy speaks of social hypocrisy and the sweeping mechanisms of power over the individual, but also of man’s unadulterated, unconquerable, unconquerable desire for life.
The Performance was attended by Municipal and district councillors, the Mayor’s adviser for the coordination of the cultural structures of the Municipality Ira Kouri and the former president of the Cultural Organization Katerina Geropanagioti.
