After having the authentication symbol removed from his account, Guy A. Lepage made the decision to cut ties with Twitter.
In a missive published on his account Thursday followingnoon, the host of Everybody talks regarding it wrote, “Time for me to quit Twitter since Mr. Rocket (Elon Musk) just took my ti-hook off me.”
The comedian and actor then raised the incongruity of having to pay from now on to benefit from this authentication, offered to all.
He also took the time to thank his “nice subscribers” with whom he has discussed in recent years, as well as those others, “crossed during an exchange, friendly or muscular”.
“I know I leave you with the scum of society. You see me sorry. But nothing obliges you to stay there”, he wrote to conclude. The host clarified that he would leave it visible on his page until Thursday evening so that people might take pictures of his post.
Earlier this week, Radio-Canada and CBC announced the suspension of their activities on Twitter, following being seen attaching the label of “media financed by the government”.
The Global Task Force for Public Media recalled on Thursday that the independence of the four public broadcasters that received this label without warning (Radio-Canada, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Korean Broadcasting System and Radio New Zealand) “was protected by the law and framed by their editorial policies.
