Comedian Bob Saget dies in Florida hotel

American comedian Bob Saget, 65, best known for his role in the TV series “Full House”, was found dead in a Florida hotel room, his family announced Sunday evening.

The family of the late announced the news in a statement published by “People” magazine, and it said, “We confirm with great regret that our dear Bob passed away today. He was everything to us, and we would like to tell you how much he loved his fans, and how much he wanted to perform roles in front of him, and gather people of all categories through laughter.”

Bob Saget, nicknamed “The Father of America”, was found unconscious in a room at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Orlando, Florida, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

While the causes of death are not yet clear, the police indicated in this context that “no evidence of a criminal act or drug use was found.”

The comedian was touring the country, and hours before his death was announced, he tweeted that he enjoyed performing in Jacksonville.

Saget is best known for his role as Danny Tanner in “Full House”, where he was a widow and the father of three daughters.

The series lasted for eight seasons that were shown between 1987 and 1995, then the Netflix platform broadcast a sequel to it over a period of five years (2016-2020).

Many artists paid tribute to the late Saget, including the crew of the series “Full House”.

Sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who took on the lead roles on “Full House”, said in a statement carried by US media that they were “deeply saddened” by the actor’s death.

“Bob was likable, tender and generous,” they added. He will always be there to guide us, as he always did.”

John Stamos, who plays Sagitt’s brother-in-law in “Full House,” wrote on Twitter, “I’m devastated, devastated, and totally shocked. I will not have a friend like him following today.”

Candice Cameron Bure, who played the role of the eldest daughter in the series, expressed her grief over Saget’s death, writing on Twitter, “I can’t find the right words. Bob was one of the best people I’ve ever known. I loved him so much.”

Saget also performed, with his voice, the role of the narrator in the series “How I Meet Your Mother”, and appeared in the series “Entourage”, embodying his own personality.

The late actor was born in 1956 in Philadelphia, and had three daughters with his first wife, Sherry Kramer Saget, before marrying once more to Kelly Rizzo.

Comedian Gilbert Gottfried tweeted: “I’m still in shock. I spoke to Bob a few days ago. As usual, we spent time on the phone laughing at each other. Rest in peace, my friend, comedian, fellow aristocrat,” referring to a kind of joke in American soap operas.

Far from portraying the ideal father he embodied in the series, Saget’s solo performances were distinguished by a bolder sense of humor.

Comedy Central’s official Twitter account wrote, “Bob Saget was a comedian who pushed the boundaries and we loved him. We will miss him.”

In turn, “Star Trek” star George Taikai tweeted, “I am very sad following receiving the news of the sudden departure of comedian Bob Saget. Liked by millions as the father of America, he was a constant presence in our living rooms, giving us the funniest videos and countless laughs. He passed away early, like so many wonderful souls.”
