Minnesota Communities Gain Access to High-Speed Internet
Six Minnesota communities celebrated a new era of connectivity this week as Comcast completed its high-speed internet rollout, bringing faster, more reliable service to 2,400 homes and businesses.
The project, a significant investment in Minnesota’s digital infrastructure, reaches across the state, connecting neighborhoods in Washington County near St. Paul — Stillwater, Hugo, and Grant — and extending to Cologne, Rogers, and Corcoran.
Over the past three years, Comcast has poured over $525 million into Minnesota’s technological landscape, modernizing its network and expanding its reach. This commitment includes upcoming expansions in Chanhassen and Nowthen, slated for completion in 2025.
Reliability and Performance Drive Comcast’s Expansion
“More than 63 million homes and businesses across the country have access to a network that is trusted by essential community organizations like hospitals, schools, transportation systems and first responders, and federal agencies like the Department of Defense and FEMA. It delivers multi-gigabit Internet speeds, 99.9 percent reliability and security built in from the ground up to keep customers safe from cyber threats,” Comcast stated in a press release.
Recognizable Brands, Innovative Services
Comcast has become a recognized name in communities across the country, often associated with its Xfinity brand, which provides a suite of internet services and equipment tailored for home use. For many, Xfinity has become synonymous with the broader Comcast brand, signifying dependable connectivity.
Beyond home internet, Comcast distinguishes itself with competition-level symmetrical internet, offering upload and download speeds that are identical. This approach directly challenges competitors like Quantum Fiber, appealing to users who rely on consistent, high-performance internet for various needs.
Bridging the Digital Divide with Internet Essentials
Comcast’s commitment extends beyond providing premium internet service. The company’s Internet Essentials program, a broadband adoption initiative, stands out for its remarkably low cost of entry. This program partners with organizations like PCs for People to make internet access more affordable and accessible to a wider range of individuals and families.
