The Minister of Transportation of Cuba, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, updated this Thursday, from when it will be possible to buy combustion motorcycles to take to Cuba, among other specifications of the new regulations in this regard.
Can I board a combustion motorcycle before the new regulations? According to Rodríguez, many people wonder if it is possible to ship a motorcycle earlier and according to him, the answer depends on several key factors.
It explains that any combustion motorcycle that meets the requirements of up to 250 cc and that is not more than 10 years old from its manufacture, can be nationalized without problems once the new regulations are implemented.
To do this, the purchase documentation and the corresponding nationalization procedures will be necessary. If a motorcycle arrives in the country after the regulations come into force, it will not face difficulties in being registered and obtaining the license plate.
If the owner’s return to the country occurs before the regulations come into force, it is recommended to take preventive measures.
Import Combustion Motorcycles to Cuba
One option is to have the motorcycle shipped ready with a freight forwarder or contact in the foreign country, subject to confirmation for subsequent shipment.
It is not recommended that the motorcycle arrive in Cuba before the official implementation date, as this would constitute a violation of current regulations.
It should be noted that both mopeds and combustion motorcycles, as well as electric or hybrid tricycles, may enter Cuba via passenger or unaccompanied cargo, as well as by shipment.
However, these shipments must wait until the new regulations are in force to avoid legal problems.
And when would this possibility of importing combustion motorcycles to Cuba come into effect? According to the Minister, the new regulations for the import of combustion motorcycles would come into force soon, with its application estimated for November.
