Combined Lamparter and Rehrl jump to double victory

Johannes Lamparter and Franz-Josef Rehrl have landed an ÖSV double victory in the special first World Cup competition of the Nordic Combined in Klingenthal. With changing wind conditions, both made it to the front on Sunday morning. The competition had started with the cross-country race on Saturday due to gusts of wind. Lamparter and Rehrl finished fourth and 23rd.

The leading trio of Vinzenz Geiger (GER/8th), Jens Luraas Oftebro (NOR/14th) and Eric Frenzel (GER/20th) fell back on the hill. Top star Jarl Magnus Riiber (NOR) was third. The sixth-placed cross-country skier voluntarily shortened a hatch following Lamparter’s jump (141 m) and landed at 136.5 m in wind conditions similar to those of the Tyrolean. Rehrl previously had the field with a 139 m set and 13 plus points for stronger tailwind from rolled up at the back.

Lamparter celebrated his fifth individual World Cup victory, the third in the German winter sports resort of Klingenthal. The work was not done for the Nordic Combiners that day. Another individual competition with jumping (10.00 a.m.) and cross-country skiing (1.00 p.m.) was on the program on Sunday.
