Temples of the Egyptians as a breeding ground. According to Environmental Surveillance agent Anderson de Moraes Leocadio, management is carried out in the administrative regions that have the highest degree of vulnerability.

“People tend to keep rubbish indoors. These materials, even in the dry period, cause accumulation of water and deposits that can be outbreaks of dengue. We instruct the population during this period, together with other bodies such as SLU and Agefis, to remove all possible garbage from inside the residence. The smaller the deposit, the smaller the population of mosquitoes that can contaminate the population”, he observes.

From door to door

The identification of the accumulation of materials with positive deposits in the residences takes place through daily technical visits, carried out by agents who go from house to house recording the number of objects and reports from residents in bulletins. From there, a relationship is made with the positive cases of dengue registered by epidemiological surveillance, and the agencies are called upon to remove the debris.

Ana Patrícia Soares Pinto, 47, has been a waste picker for five years and lives in the region. According to her, residents throw waste anywhere, even though they have certain days for collection.

“They have the right places to play, but they play where it’s easier. If the population had a little more awareness, the government would spend less on this and more on other things that are also important, ”he points out. She comments on the GDF action carried out in the region: “Debris cleaning removes dirt from the street and prevents the dengue mosquito. It’s good for the general population.”
