Combat Fraternity 2023: CSTO Joint Military Exercises with Belarus, Russia, and Regional Partners

On August 25, military contingents moved to Belarus to participate in the exercises, reported Ministry of Defense of Belarus. National troops of belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia y Tajikistan.

The participation of more than 2,500 soldiers and more of 500 military equipmentit was reported in an official statement from the OTSC.

In the Combative Fraternity 2023 maneuvers, the Collective Rapid Reaction Force of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the reconnaissance units of the Armed Forces of the Member States of the CSTO, the logistic support forces of CSTO troops, as well as CSTO’s radiation, chemical and biological protection unit, and medical support.

Within the framework of the Combative Fraternity 2023 exercises, several special exercises are planned:

Saudi Arabia, Iran, China y Mongoliawho are not members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, were invited to observe the Combative Fraternity 2023 maneuvers, declared the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the CSTO, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov.

According to the Belarusian Defense Minister, Viktor Jreninalso offered to Polandneighboring Belarus, the opportunity to observe the maneuvers, but there was no response.

The main objective of the exercise is to improve the coordination and coherence of the operation of the command and control bodies when it comes to prepare and carry out a joint operation.

In addition, the exercises are aimed at developing the practical capabilities of the commanders of the main military units and subunits during combat and special operations. CSTO believes that one of the most important missions of the exercise is to develop in the military high moral and combat qualitiespsychological stability and physical resistance.

Combat Fraternity 2023 training is an exercise”programmed“, noted the Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus, Alexander Volfovichwhile adding that both Minsk and the Belarusian partners of the CSTO, unlike Western countries, have always carried out this type of military maneuvers in an open formatrespecting a defensive military doctrine.

Founded in 1992, the Collective Security Treaty Organization includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan. The organization successfully participated in various peacekeeping missions, for example in the events in Kazakhstan at the beginning of 2022 and other joint military exercises.
