We rarely escape it following eating garlic, but a very specific food might fight once morest bad breath. A study reveals which one and explains why.
It can be difficult to combat bad odors. At home or on us, they sometimes creep in for too long a period, despite the deodorant we can put on or the water we can ingest. When it comes to bad breath, one food is particularly hard to mask following ingestion: garlic. While visiting France, King Charles III banned it for his dinner at Versailles.
Trendy at the moment, it is one of those very popular antioxidant products, especially for having beautiful skin. But how do you get rid of its scent following eating it? Researchers have revealed that one food is particularly effective for this. Relayed by Health Magazinethe study was published in the journal Molecules et a statement was published on September 19. Its lead author is professor of food science and technology Sheryl Barringer, officiating at Ohio State University in the United States.

What to eat to avoid bad breath linked to garlic?
The researcher has already identified apples, mint, milk or even lettuce as foods likely to combat bad breath linked to garlic. Their fats or enzymes neutralize the sulfur compounds causing this odor. This time, the team tested the components of the yogurt independently: water, proteins, fats. These were placed on raw garlic in glass bottles. The concentration of “smelly volatile compounds” was then measured and the reduction in levels of these compounds was 99% with yogurt alone. When the compounds were introduced separately, they also had a deodorizing effect, but water was less effective than fats and proteins.
Other experiments concerned the pH, the acidity of the yogurt. And the result shows that a yogurt with a less acidic pH is less effective on bad odor. Dr. Sheryl Barringer advises favor yogurts richer in protein : Greek yogurts, rather than classic whole milk yogurts. But all are effective, including those flavored with fruit. Another recommendation: eat the yogurt shortly following eating the garlic. Also good to know: fried garlic emits fewer smelly compounds than raw garlic, but yogurts are less effective on fried garlic.
