A Columbia professor attacked university authorities for the conflict between Israel and Hamas
Shai Davidai, professor at the Columbia University Business School, gave a forceful speech on the symbolic university campus in New York last Wednesday, questioning the lack of expressions of repudiation by the presidents of American universities towards the demonstrations of groups “pro-terrorist” student groups in the context of tension in the Middle East.

“We cannot protect our children from pro-terrorist student organizations because the presidents of Columbia University, Harvard University, Stanford University, Berkeley University are not going to speak once morest pro-terrorist student organizations,” exclaimed Davidai, who is Israeli and believes that his own children are “legitimate targets of resistance” on campus because of their origins.
“If my 7-year-old daughter was 18 now, I would never, ever send her to Columbia,” he said in front of a crowd gathered around a candle-lit Star of David.

The professor openly criticized Minouche Shafik, president of Columbia University, calling her a “coward” for not speaking out once morest student organizations that support Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel. According to local media, Shafik issued a statement regarding the recent crisis with Israel and the Gaza Strip but she refrained from mentioning Hamas and did not intervene in a dispute on campus between pro-Israel and pro-Palestine sympathizers.

“Last week, 14 United States citizens were kidnapped in Gaza with Israeli, French, German and other nationalities. 14 Americans are currently held hostage in Gaza. And yet, the president of the University is giving her support to pro-terrorist student organizations,” Davidai emphasized in her speech, which went viral on social networks and has revived the debate around freedom of expression and the responsibility of educational institutions to guarantee a safe environment free of aggression.

Davidai’s intervention comes at a time of high tensions on campus, marked by rival protests in support of Israel and the Palestinian people. On October 13, Columbia University closed the campus to the public following calls for a “world jihad day” by Hamas leaders.
“We had thousands of students singing pro-terrorist songs that they are singing right now in Iraq, in Libya, in Yemen, in Afghanistan,” Davidai said. “They were singing this last week, not in Gaza, not in Afghanistan. Here in New York City! And this is the university you want to send your children to. They were celebrating the rape of teenage girls at a music festival in the name of resistance. They were celebrating that. And the president of the University is allowing these pro-terrorist student organizations to march on our campuses.”
He concluded: “We would never allow the KKK to march on our campus! We would never allow a pro-ISIS demonstration on our campus! Can you imagine it in the city that had to suffer 9-11, the worst attack on American soil? Can you imagine that here we have a pro-terrorist student organization?”
