Colors of ostrava Welcomes World Music to Czech Republic

The Colors⁢ of Ostrava festival, known for its‍ dedication​ to showcasing​ international musical⁣ talent, has unveiled‍ a new​ wave of performers for its​ 22nd edition, taking place in the Dolní oblast Vítkovice area⁤ from July 16 to July 19.

joining the already⁣ notable lineup⁤ featuring Sting, The Chainsmokers, Iggy Pop, Justice, ‍and Snow Patrol, is a diverse group of artists from Korea, Taiwan, China, and Japan.

“As its inception, the Colors of Ostrava festival has focused on mapping⁢ interesting music from around the world,” explained artistic director Zlata holušová. ⁢​ “Our ambition is to present music that ⁢is⁤ exotic, ⁣new,‍ innovative, or that⁢ is deeply rooted in different cultures and nations.In recent years, however,‌ we‌ have ‌been dazzled primarily by Asian culture, which has become a global phenomenon today,”

Korean Musical Talent Takes Center Stage

From South Korea, acclaimed composer Young‍ Jaeil ⁢will‌ bring his unique sound to ostrava.⁤ Known for his work on the Oscar-winning film “Parasite” and the‌ television series “Hra‌ na ​oliheň,” Jaeil ⁣will collaborate with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava (JFO) and projections from the graphic studio Fluks,renowned for their⁢ work with Lady Gaga and Olivia ⁤Rodrigo.

Jaeil will perform original compositions,alongside music familiar to cinema and television audiences.

Another Korean artist joining the lineup is ​ DPR IAN, a multi-talented musician who‌ started as a drummer in an Australian rock‌ band. He later gained YouTube​ popularity‍ as a dance inspiration, eventually winning an audition at age twenty-one in Seoul and joining the K-pop group C-clown.

“I dare to say that it will be ⁢the biggest⁣ production of ‍this genre​ that we have seen in‌ the Czech Republic so⁣ far. Even though DPR IAN does not fall purely⁤ into⁤ the category⁣ of K-pop, we enjoy its overlaps and straddling across ‌styles,” commented chief dramaturg ⁣Filip Košťálek.

Exploring the World of⁣ K-Pop

K-Pop, a genre originating in⁤ South​ Korea, is a dynamic blend​ of dance music,⁣ pop, electropop, hip hop, and contemporary r’n’b.

Artists from Across Asia

The festival will also feature Lee Seung Yoon, an indie rock songwriter from Korea; Fat Hamster & Kang New, a quirky electronic duo; and Hypnosis Therapy, a captivating ‌electronic rap duo, all hailing from Korea.Joining them will be Taiwanese psychedelic rock band Outlet Drift ⁣and singer Chih-Chih, ‍Chih-Yin Kuo. japan is represented by established DJ‌ and producer ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U, while China’s musical contribution‌ comes from ajing, who brings a modern twist to conventional music.

This year, Colors of Ostrava also⁣ introduces a special discounted ticket category for⁢ young visitors under the age of 21.
