Colorado prosecutor dismisses charges against Jerry Jeudy

Following the request of the prosecution, a judge in suburban Denver on Tuesday dismissed charges once morest Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy following a dispute with his girlfriend that landed him in prison.

Arapahoe County District Court Judge Chantel Contiguglia closed the case following the County District Attorney’s office filed a motion to dismiss the charges, said Eric Ross, spokesman for the 18th District Attorney’s Office.

Contiguglia also vacated the settlement hearing, which is scheduled for Tuesday followingnoon, Ross said.

This will allow Jeudy to attend Tuesday’s Broncos practice if he is healthy. He was out on Monday due to a back ailment.

Jeudy, 23, was arrested Sept. 12 at the couple’s home in suburban Denver following his girlfriend reported that he had locked their belongings and the baby in their car to prevent them from returning to Virginia.

He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree criminal interference enhanced by domestic violence, a misdemeanor, and had to spend the night in jail until he might stand trial on the second count.

The next day in court, the woman informed Contiguglia that she did not feel threatened during the dispute and that there was no physical contact. She asked that the charges once morest Jeudy be dropped.

After the hearing, Jeudy’s attorney, Harvey Steinberg, indicated that Jeudy did not commit any crime and that the case should not have been labeled domestic violence because there was no violence or attempted violence.

“Bad things happen to good people and that was the case here,” Steinberg said.

Jeudy, the 15th pick in the 2020 Draft out of Alabama, had 90 catches for 1,323 yards and three touchdowns in two seasons with Denver. He missed most of last season with a sprained ankle.
