In Italy, Colombia’s participation in the World Skate Games is progressing in modalities such as skateboarding, skatecross, inline slalom, inline hockey, artistic skating and roller hockey.

These disciplines are present in the respective world championships that take place in various Italian locations and within the framework of the World Skate Games.

Starting with figure skating, which takes place in Rimini, the first two representatives of our country were Paulina Ruíz and Daniela Rodríguez.

The Colombians performed the short program in the freestyle modality and occupied the final positions 13 and 26, respectively.

This Thursday, September 12, our representatives will complete the long program to finish the competition in that modality.

Colombia also had representation in the skatecross and inline slalom disciplines. In the former, Evelyn Stefanía Rincón was part of the junior women’s category and did not qualify for the quarterfinals.

For his part, José Mejía, in the senior men’s category, obtained his passage to this round in the time trial, however, a lack of information in the official competition schedule prevented him from participating and he was disqualified.

World Skate Games Italia 2024

The inline slalom world championship took place in Chieti, where Colombian Carlos Quiroga, in his first experience at a world event in this discipline, finished 22nd in slalom, 24th in giant slalom, 27th in combined slalom and 30th in parallel slalom.

In street skateboarding, Colombian Luna Garzón competed in the qualifying series.

However, he did not make it to the next round of the world skateboarding championship.

At the men’s junior inline hockey world championship taking place in Roccaraso, the Colombian national team lost its first two matches.

In their debut, the United States beat our team with a score of 2 – 9, while, on Tuesday, the Czech Republic won with a score of 3 – 4.

Colombia will face Italy in the qualifying round, which has accumulated one defeat, against the United States 1-3, and one victory, against the Czech Republic 2-0.

In this same location, in the senior women’s world championship, the Colombian team finished in tenth position.

In the men’s U-19 World Championship in roller hockey, the Colombian team finished the first round with three losses (Italy, Portugal and France).

Our representatives finished fourth in Group B and will play next Thursday against Spain, leader of Group A and current world champion, in the quarter-finals of the competition.
