Marelis Luna Fuente lives an ordeal. The 45-year-old woman has not been able to receive medical attention because her ID appears as that of a deceased person in the registration systems of the Valledupar hospitals.
Fuente is a mother who is the head of the household, works in various jobs and suffers from diabetes and arterial hypertension. In fact, for the last three months she has presented dizziness, severe headaches and fainting, but for the Colombian health system she is already dead, so she has not been able to be evaluated by a specialist.

He has sought medical attention at the Eduardo Arredondo Daza Hospital, Rosario Pumarejo de López Hospital, Valledupar Clinic, among other care centers without finding an answer.

In the face of the emergency due to his health problems, he went to a pharmacy in the El Páramo neighborhood of the town where he lives, but the effect of the medicines is transitory.

The most outrageous thing for this user of the New EPS is that in the Cesar Clinic, in whose system she also appears as deceased, she was hospitalized the previous year.

“On that occasion I was very ill and they hospitalized me for a month. Now that I went to this place, they tell me that I appear dead in the entity’s data system,” Luna Fuentes stressed.
No living person can be left unattended in hospital emergency services
Three days ago, the humble woman sought help from the Valledupar Registry to legalize her situation. Her impotence became evident, since, according to her, the entity confirmed that her identity number appears as deceased.
“They told me to start the legal process for the ID renewal process as if it were the first time, but I have to take photos and do an exam to find out my blood type. That costs me regarding 42,000 pesos and my precarious condition prevents me from doing it in a timely manner,” the woman commented.
The unfortunate situation of the mother who is the head of the household caused a stir in the capital of Cesar. Despite the fact that the fact has been reported in different media outlets in the capital of Cesar, she has not yet been able to solve the problem.
Holger Jiménez, Municipal Health Secretary, explained that no person can be neglected in hospital emergency services.
He also stressed that unusual events such as these have been taking place in the city, since, apparently, some people lend their citizenship card to the Venezuelan population so that they can receive the relevant medical services.
“If the lady went to the emergency room, she should have been treated above all circumstances. The user must legalize her situation before the relevant authorities, because on certain occasions it has been the case that some people lend the ID to Venezuelans to receive medical care and this patient dies, ”explained the official.

In the same sense, he specified that this unusual fact generates an alert, since the hospital centers must communicate the problem to the entities in charge so that they can carry out the respective investigation.
“We will call the hospital institution to provide the emergency service. If it is an external consultation, they are not obliged to attend her until she legalizes her documentation. We will send a circular to your IPS so that they can attend to your problem,” Jiménez pointed out.
