Lima: Colombia is searching for the passengers of the small plane that crashed in the Amazon forests. The plane disappeared from radar on May 1 while flying over the Amazon rainforest in the southern Caqueta department. A man’s body was found inside the crashed plane on Monday. The Colombian Aviation Authority said that six passengers, including four children, were still to be found.
The area around the crash site was searched but no clues were found regarding the missing persons. Avianline Charter, the owner of the plane, said the body found was that of the pilot. The plane descended steeply through thick trees. The front part of the plane hit the ground and was completely destroyed. The Colombian Army released a picture of the wreckage on Twitter. The cause of the accident is unclear.
Along with the army, the tribals of the region are also participating in the search for the missing persons. The bags of the people in the plane have also been recovered. Meanwhile, a half-eaten apple was found, giving hope that someone on board may have escaped alive. The rescue team said that if anyone has escaped alive, they may be wandering through the dense forest and the search will continue to locate them.
