Foreign sales of Colombian fresh fruits continue to growin a behavior that has been recorded for several years.

This increase positive is evidenced with greater volume in products such as bananas, Hass avocados, plantains, Tahiti lemons and gulupa, which led sales in international markets in 2022, representing 93% of exports in this sector.

“It stands out the great potential of the Colombian fresh fruit export basket, thanks to its quality and the possibility of having several harvests during the year. Likewise, he emphasized the importance of working together between the public and private sectors to open more doors in foreign markets through phytosanitary admissibility and sustainability,” said Javier Díaz, executive president of the National Association of Foreign Trade (Analdex). .

The external sales of Colombian fruits last year left the nation’s coffers with US$1,476 million, which represented an increase of 4.7% compared to 2021.

The banana led the fresh fruit exports with a participation of 66%. For their part, Tahiti lemon, bananas, gulupa, passion fruit, mango, raspberry and dried grapes increased significantly.

However, in the first two months of 2023, external sales of fresh fruits have presented a decrease of 36% compared to the same period of the previous year, mainly due to lower sales to the European Union, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey.
