Indeed, while they are killing Colombians who enrolled in the Ukrainian militia, attracted by juicy salaries, in Bolivia they have just launched an alert for the existence of a group of mercenaries at the service of drug trafficking.

In fact, in October 2021, the Bolivian government denounced that paramilitaries and mercenary contractors involved in the assassination of the former president of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse, were in La Paz, in October 2020, to try to attack the then candidate and current president, Luis Arce.

For the Bolivian authorities, everything indicates that the mercenaries also offered their services in Bolivia and now evidence is appearing.

Bolivian media have recorded clashes between agents of the Rural Patrol Mobile Unit and a group of drug traffickers in the Cochabamba tropics (central Bolivia) when they were trying to dismantle a cocaine megalaboratory.

And the Minister of Government, Eduardo Del Castillo, reported on Tuesday followingnoon that the actions of the agents managed to “neutralize the irregular group by confiscating their weapons.”

But he provided a key piece of information: “This cocaine laboratory inserted in the Cochabamba tropics had a security team made up of highly dangerous Colombian citizens.”

In fact, there were several captured, among whom were “national (Bolivian) and Colombian citizens who were heavily armed” and that everything indicates, they were at the service of the mafias that operate in that area of ​​Bolivia.

EL TIEMPO investigated and established that the Colombian detained in the operation was identified as Mirto Antonio Arenas Bonilla, 59, a native of Maya, Cundinamarca.

According to Colombian judicial records, the man was sentenced in 2010 to 3 years in prison for drug trafficking.

And in September 2015, the file was sent to a court in Cundinamarca, which ordered the extinction of the sentence.

According to reports from La Paz, this will be one of the issues that will be discussed at a meeting of the region’s Interior Ministers, to be held in Bogotá next Friday and attended by the Bolivian Government Minister, Eduardo Del Castillo, who delivered details of what is happening with Colombians.
